Good afternoon,
Over the last couple of days students have continued to work on their words, by sorting and writing them out, as well as coming up with stories that incorporate their words. We will be completing a spelling test at the end of this week.
Last week and this week we have been working on various strategies for multiplication, such as repeated addition, grouping, arrays, skip counting, etc. Furthermore, we have been working at solving multiplication word problem using the CUBES strategy. Please ask your child about this. I am very impressed with how well the students are picking up the different strategies. Yesterday I sent home a worksheet for students to practice and show you the different strategies that they will be using. If students want to continue to work with multiplication (or any other concepts) please have them work on Mathletics, as well as this link
Over the last week we have been exploring various animals and their habitat, food, fun facts, etc. We have put all of our research into google slides and will be presenting them tomorrow. Please have your child show you their google slides. So far I'm extremely impressed with them and I have learned a lot of great information about different animals.
Next Tuesday is Halloween and we have talked as a class that costumes are welcomed; however, please leave the masks and weapons at home. We will be having a small class party Tuesday afternoon where we will be doing some fun crafts, word searches, etc.
Finally, I will be sending home the Scholastic Book order tomorrow as it looks like some fun and engaging winter books, among other ones. I will be putting in an order on November 7th so if you would like to purchase any books please have the order forms back by then.
Also, parent teacher interviews are next week. Please remember to sign up for a time slot as everyones' time is important to me.
