Scholastic Book Orders: If you are in Mrs Quilley's class book orders will be due Monday. You can either send a cheque or order your books online.

The Rights of a Child: Students have been exploring their rights and the rights of a child. We had a great class debate about whether a holiday is a right or a want. There were some great ideas for each, especially when a student stated that a holiday based on religion was a right. Please talk with your child about this debate. As a class we put this debate onto Twitter... please see the results @MrsQuilley

Inquiry into animals: Students have chosen an animal that they are interested in and started researching this animal via books and the internet. The website https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/ is a fantastic website for animal research. Students are then taking this information and putting it into a google slide show and then presenting it next week.

Math: Students have been exploring numbers.

Please talk with your child about the different ways of showing a number. Some students were able to explain a number into the thousands.

Another fun question that students explored was "Using base 10 blocks show 267 using exactly 24 blocks. Explain how did you do it."

Writing: During the week students wrote a letter to a pen pal in China. We wrote about our favourite food, siblings, favourite activity, school, city, etc. Please talk with your child about this. If you are in Mrs. Quilley's class you can go into their google docs to take a peek at your child's letter.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Mrs. Quilley
