What a great week!

This a been a great week in Rooms 1 and 2. Here are some of the highlights from our week:

1. Math - we have finished up a 2 week study on place value and are working on reviewing addition strategies. Please ask your child about the strategy to help them remember the doubles. We have also been working on near doubles and learned a fun game called Double Down. Please ask your child to teach you this at home.

Later on in the week we introduced the CUBES problem solving strategy. A worksheet will be sent home for you to practice with your child.

2. Writing - we are learning about organizing our ideas through the use of graphic organizers. Please ask your child what chronological means. We have also been working on using Red Flag words and character development.

3. Inquiry - we are beginning to talk about being Global Citizens and how one person can have a positive impact in the lives of others. Following this lead, we have started a research project on Malala and will be creating a newspaper article on her through a computer program called Pages.
