International Diabetes Day

Today we supported one of my students with diabetes as it was International Diabetes Day. Everyone in our class, as well as Mrs Sloane's class, Mrs. Tuff, and Mr. Scout wore blue to show our support for our student. We brought in another expert, Mrs. Brace, on diabetes and we learned a lot of information from them. We showed a little video on what happens to our body with diabetes and then tattoos were handed out. Mrs. Brace and our students answered a lot of important, and hard, questions!! Please see below for some pictures.

Over the next couple of days we will be starting to publish our story that we have been working on over the last month. I'm looking forward to reading all the great stories. During this process we have been talking about editing our work. Today we discussed in more detail the importance of the COPS format (Capitalize, Organization, Punctuation, and Spelling). We will continue to work with this format.

During math we have been continuing to work on increasing and decreasing patterns. Please talk about different patterns used in our environment. One of the patterns we have been looking at is Fibonacci's Theory (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, ...). If you have the time you can talk with your child about this pattern.

Scholastic book orders were given out last week. I will be putting in an order on December 1st. If you would like to order anything please send back the forms.
